KIPP LA Preparatory

A manufacturing single-story building was converted into a new school campus consisting of sixteen (16) classrooms, an art room and a music/band room. The design included a covered patio for outdoor activities.

Featured in the documentary Waiting for Superman this former tostada and chip processing factory located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles was transformed into a middle school that would set the standards for all charter schools.

The school building is a 22,862 square foot concrete block structure that was converted into 18 classrooms including four specialty rooms for music, science and art.
